Message from our Patron
It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.

The first water tower is ready!

Wells alone will not be sufficient. Water towers are necessary to ensure sufficient pressure in the pipes and water stocks in case there is a problem with supply. When the first well had been drilled, a water tower was necessary and that’s also been built!

Making the cement ring foundation for the water tower.
Although we want to work with local suppliers as much as possible, the water tower was built in the Netherlands, in particular because of the high quality materials available – not yet available in Tanzania. In this Malaika Kids were supported by Jan and Ans Verkaart, who designed it, and various ROTO-companies and the Mulcon Group which built it.

Putting up the water tower; assembling the building package.
The complete tower was then shipped to Tanzania in a container. There, using local materials, a cement foundation was laid. After setting out the points for attachment, the steel parts of the tower were mounted on the foundations. Then a wooden platform was built and on this two tanks have been placed, each with a volume of 10.000 liters. These tanks were bought from a local supplier.

The finished water towers, ready for use!
Building the water towers is another important step in the building of the children’s village. Malaika Kids is grateful that so many people and companies have supported us in our efforts.
