- It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.
Women's 5k Challenge 2009
| Amongst the 17,000 ladies running this event in Hyde Park were five gals sporting their Malaika Kids shirts and running their hearts out to raise sponsorship for our Tanzanian orphans. Despite the threat of rain and wind the sun shone and there was a gentle breeze so we wished we hadn't cancelled our picnic afterwards. Two of our ladies managed to line up just 20 feet from the international runners on the start line but couldn't quite keep up the pace - only because of all the slow runners they had to duck and dive around in between, of course! | ||
| It was 45 minutes before the other three ladies even managed to reach the start line but they had a great time and got to know each other really well whilst in the queue. The atmosphere was electric with just about every runner raising funds for a favoured charity. Next year the ambition is 10k, we hope! |
