Great progress in Mkuranga
| In Mkuranga they’re working hard on our chidren’s village as can be seen in these photos: | ||
| Central dining room | ||
| The central dining room is the final building of the first cluster and work is progressing well. This building is in the middle of the cluster and will form the focus of all activities of the four "families" living around this building. As it has no walls the building is really open – actually a roof on pillars! | ||
| School buildings | ||
| We’re currently working hard to waterproof the two school buildings. | ||
| Half of the roof is almost finished. Notice the connection of the gutters to neighboring buildings | ||
| Of the second school building only the roof construction has been completed – roof tiles still need to be laid. | ||
| Shower block | ||
| The shower block is almost finished. What remains to be done is the placing of dividing walls, provision of water supply and lighting. | ||
| Laundry will be done at the side of the shower block. It has been designed so that it can even be hung out to dry during the wet season. | ||
| Septic tanks | ||
| A second septic is almost ready for use. | ||
| Septic tanks are made up of two parts. A storage tank for solid substances through an overflow connected to a cesspool. The fluids run from the storage tank to the sewer where they filtering through into the ground disappear. (translated by Google translate) | ||
| Family houses | ||
| Four family houses are ready for use! Three are from the first cluster and one is for the second cluster. The reason for doing it this way was it was easier to construct and therefore cheaper. During the building of the second cluster, the fourth house of the first cluster will be completed. | ||
| The double family house in which the courtyard is clearly shown. This courtyard forms a closed area where even the youngest can play safely. | ||
