- It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.
Kids move in to the new Village
| First day at their new school for Malaika Kids | ||
| A new school is always a challenge. New teachers, new classmates, in short many new experiences. On 8 January 2010 the Malaika Kids, who had moved from their home in Dar es Salaam to the village in Mkuranga, began their new school! | ||
| In total 22 children from Malaika Kids are attending the local school in Mkuranga with 1200 pupils. One attends secondary school, three pre-school and eighteen go to the primary school. Every school day the kids leave at 7.30 a.m. and walk the two kilometres to school in Mkuranga. One of our guards accompanies the children to the main road and picks them up there again at 3 p.m. | ||
| Orphans often experience learning difficulties due to having lived on the streets and/or traumatic experiences. Malaika Kids is in consultation with the school about extra tuition in the children’s village. Teachers from the local school come to the Malaika village and help the children in their own environment with their school work. | ||
| News from the children | ||
| "We’re really happy with our new home in Mkuranga. We would like to thank all donors, sponsors and volunteers who have helped make this possible and are still helping with our education and our future. Thanks to everyone! | ||
