- It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.
A start has been made on foundations for the village
| The ground for the children’s village is being prepared! Having compensated the last local farmer, the vegetation on the land required for building has been removed. | ||
| The areas that need to be prepared for building are: the main road to the entrance of the village, the area where the first four clusters are to be built, the location for the first water tower and pipe line and finally the quarry. The sand from the quarry is to be used for making Hydroform blocks. These blocks can be made by local people using a special machine. The blocks will then be used to build the village. |
||
| The picture below shows which areas are being prepared for building. The red lines are the ditches to be dug. These ditches will prevent the sand being washed away, which could otherwise happen once the vegetation is removed. The roadway is being levelled and compressed and a hardened top layer is being laid. | ||
| These are the first steps needed in order to prepare for building. The next step will be to level the top terrace. The site drops in the direction of the top of the plan and will give a two metre high bank between each 60 metre wide terrace. As soon as the building permits are issued, the actual building can begin! | ||
