Message from our Patron
It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.

Clean water

In order to supply the village with water, three wells will be drilled and water pumped up from ca. 30 metres deep. At each well, a water tower and two storage tanks of 10.000 liters will be placed. This will give the village a total storage capacity of 60.000 liters. A conscious choice has been made for three wells with separate storage capacity in order to always have clean water, even during maintenance or some calamity. With an expected usage of approximately 12.000 litres per day when the village is fully occupied, there would still be sufficient water for five days even if not all tanks were in use. The storage tanks will be connected to a ring main which will provide the village and all the shower blocks (and a number of other buildings) with water. By placing the wells, water towers and storage tanks at the top of the village, there will be sufficient water pressure in the shower blocks.
Shower blocks
Each cluster of 4 family houses has a communal shower block, with showers, toilets, and facilities to wash and dry clothes. The eight shower blocks are all on the edge of the village, supplied with running water, and are the only places in the village where there is clean water. This creates a relatively efficient and effective water system which is easy to install and maintain.
