- It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.
The first building phases
| Having drawn up the master plan and purchased the land we are ready for the first building phase, in which the following work is planned: | ||
| Study the first four construction phases in a larger format (PDF) | ||
| Phase 1 (yellow) | The land will be prepared for building, whereby adjacent horizontal terraces of land, 250 by 60 metres will be laid out. On the highest strip, the first cluster will then be built, consisting of four family houses (with eight dormitories), a central hall with kitchen, and a shower block. The infrastructure and 500 metres of fencing will also be put in place. | |
| Phase 2 (green) | As a second step a well will be drilled, and a water tower and two storage tanks will be placed. The first part of the main water pipes will be constructed. | |
| Phase 3 (blue) | Two school buildings and also an office are planned for this phase. | |
| Phase 4 (red) | In phase 4 a second cluster will be built, again with four family houses, central hall with kitchen, and a shower block (that will of course be connected to the main water pipes). | |
| Running costs 5 year guaranteed | ||
| Completing the building work certainly doesn’t mean we are finished. Food and care are still required: the children need to go to school and lots more besides. To guarantee the continuity of the children’s village, Malaika Kids needs to be sure that the running costs of a cluster for the following five years are ensured (via gifts already received and those promised) before beginning with the building of the cluster. In this way we can be sure that we can sustain what we begin. | ||
