- It is with great pleasure that I formally accept your invitation to be patron of Malaika Kids. This acceptance is a recognition by myself and the High Commission of Tanzania of the noble work Malaika Kids is doing for the under privileged children in Tanzania.

03-11-2004 - First we had the support of bank director Jan of Jaaren, now we have the support of the wife of the president, Mama Anna Mkapa! Her organisation Equal Opportunities for all Trust Fund (EOTF) is supporting our initiative in various ways.
Children tested for HIV/AIDS: nobody infected!
20-09-2004 - The children in the home have finally been tested for HIV/AIDS. This was initially a problem: according to Tanzanian law, a test can only be requested by people of eighteen years or older, or by the parents of a child.

01-07-2004 - Within Tanzania our initiative has also been widely supported. The owner of the FMBE Bank has helped us by taking care of the problems and costs which international money transfers can bring.
The children go to school
07-06-2004 - The first step towards a positive future is taken. The children are going to school!
First children were taken in
09-03-2004 - The Malaika children’s home was not officially open, but Najma Manji took in seven children. The youngest child was a 4 year old boy and the oldest was a 7 year old girl.
House rented in Dar-es-Salaam
26-02-2004 - With our help Najma Manji rented a house in Dar-es-Salaam. The house is just outside the centre and has a wall and large gate that can be locked. This house offers a safe refuge to 15 children and a helper.
