14-12-2007 - Malaika Kids wants, in cooperation with Ustawi Wa Jamii (welfare office) and other children’s homes, to stimulate study and sport amongst the children.
The first water tower is ready!
01-12-2007 - Wells alone will not be sufficient. Water towers are necessary to ensure sufficient pressure in the pipes and water stocks in case there is a problem with supply.
The first well has been drilled
14-11-2007 - As preparations began for building the Malaika Kids children’s village in Mkuranga, it was time to drill the first well.
Najma Manji meets Minister for Justice

Children’s village gets 100% support from Regional Government
02-11-2007 - At a top level meeting arranged by Mr Henry Clemens, the District Commissioner of the province of Mkuranga, the Malaika Kids village was given their full backing.
UK Chairman visits Orphan House

The Infrastructure of the Children’s village is ready!

23-04-2007 - On 17th April Mr Karel van Kesteren, the Dutch Ambassador to Tanzania performed the opening ceremony of the newly refurbished orphanage in Dar es Salaam

High Commissioner becomes Patron
08-04-2007 - Her Excellency the High Commissioner for Tanzania, Mrs Mwanaidi Sinare Maajar has honoured us by becoming our Patron. She has already demonstrated her support by providing us with helpful advice and many useful contacts.
A start has been made on foundations for the village
02-04-2007 - The ground for the children’s village is being prepared! Having compensated the last local farmer, the vegetation on the land required for building is being removed.
Malaika Kids UK committee in The Hague
02-02-2007 - On January 28th the Malaika kids UK committee visited The Hague to meet the Dutch committee and agree on the way forward.

27-01-2007 - Many orphans in Tanzania are cared for by their family. For many families, this care becomes too much of a financial burden in the long term and they turn to the government to take over the care of the orphans.
